Eliminate

Remove. Scratch out. Get rid of it. End. Terminate. Obliterate. Before you try a new thing or before you optimize something you are already doing. Eliminate.

Eliminate decisions and eliminate activities that are not helping you. The decisions and activities that are holding you back.

Even if they don’t directly hinder you, they take up more mental capacity and time than they are worth.

Eliminating will lower the number of decisions you must make daily. Eliminating will free up precious time. Thinking capacity and time, you can now direct towards more meaningful and valuable activities.

Want an example? Make a shopping list before you go grocery shopping. So, you only have to get the things on the list. You don’t have to wonder if you need this thing on sale or that attractive-looking cookie while waiting in line at the cash register. Because if it is not on your shopping list, you don’t need to buy it. And chances are, you’ll put similar things on your shopping list next week, shortening your time in the supermarket because you know where to find them in the aisles.

(You’ll score bonus points if you make a menu for a few days, check the inventory in your house, and only put the ingredients on your shopping list to make that menu. You have now made a conscious decision on what you will eat in advance, minimizing your chances of grabbing whatever is in sight when you are bored or hungry. That is a lead Domino decision, making you spend less money and time and probably increasing the nutritional value of the food you eat)
